...an extraordinary movie, it certainly stirred an interest in me to go on doing some private research on the topic. Is the a chance, by the way, of getting hold of a dvd version of it? Apparently, it hasn't appeared yet in Germany, so does anyone have an idea of where to get it?

I want to thank Marco Bechis and the actors for making this great movie - perhaps the most disturbing and most tragic movie I have ever seen.

The way in which it displays the full brutality of the Argentinian junta nearly without showing scenes of direct violence and never turning into an "action-movie" ist very impressive.

Unlike other movies - Schindler's List for example, where the events appear somewhat distant to the audience - Garage Olimpo brings the events extremely close to the spectator, looking directly from Maria's perspective most of the time.

Like Maria, throughout the movie, the spectator searches for signs of hope and consolation, but there aren't any.

In the end, there is only one thing to do:
Never to forget the 30.000 "disappeared" persons, to support human and civil rights, and to fight torture, "secret police" and "secret prisons" whereever they exist - a topic that is of terrible actuality.

Thanks a lot for this overwhelming movie. I didn't know much about the junta before.
It's the paradoxy of horror within a completely normal appearing environement - roaring life on the one hand and incredible brutality on the other hand - that's what shocked me most.
I hope for Argentina that people there will be ready one day to handle their past - and I believe this film may be a great step forward to do so.
It's only a pitty that big cinema-chains seem to avoid to show this kind of film - I suppose because that doesn't fit together with popcorn and softdrinks..

ich habe den Film letztens bei eBay als DVD ersteigert. Es ist die offizielle(!!!) holländische DVD-Version. Der Verkäufer machte die Angabe: "English Subtitles". Leider stimmt dies aber nicht! Der Film ist im spanischen Original mit holländischen, dänischen, schwedischen, norwegischen und finnischen Untertiteln. Da ich keiner dieser Sprachen mächtig bin, und der Verkäufer den Film nicht zurückgenommen hat, würde ich ihn gerne wieder verkaufen! Ich warte dann lieber bis irgendwann eine Version mit dt. oder engl. Ton bzw. UT herauskommt.
Also: wer interesse hat bitte mit Preisvorstellung unter o.g. eMail-Adresse melden!
Mein Angebot: Ich wickle den Verkauf auch gerne unter eBay ab!

Hallo,

ich fand während des Films frappierend zwei Lieder, die im Radio liefen, bevor die Folterer ans Werk gingen. Es war eine Art "Gute-Laune-Musik", so etwa 70er Jahre-Schlager. Eines hieß: "Tienes eso, eso..." und das andere: "Un dia de fiesta, golpea la puerta, me vino a buscar" (hoffe, ich habe es richtig verstanden). Das zweite ist auch in dem Trailer auf der Homepage.
Kann mir jemand etwas mehr über diese Lieder erzählen, und waren sie sehr beliebt damals in Argentinien?

Ich arbeite in einem Programmkino in der Nähe von München und habe mir letzte Woche den Film Junta angesehen. Und eins muss ich wirklich sagen: er gehört zu den besten Filmen, die ich bis jetzt gesehen habe. Und er gehört zu den wenigen Filmen, die einen auch noch lange nach dem Kinobesuch darüber nachdenken lassen.

My English is too bad to express what I felt in those ninety minutes. Ten minutes ago I left the cinema in Frankfurt Hoechst. I am shocked. I am so utterly shocked. I thought I would have known all about what happened in those years. I have not.
What human beings are able to do to human beings! (We Germans should know best...)
The culprits are alive. Where is the Deluge? Is there anywhere any justice in this world of tears???

My parents r from argentina and they studied at the time when the "desaparecidos" get cought tortcherd and killed.
So for me and my family it is very very important to c this film , but because we haven´t been here , in germany while the film was in the cinema , i want to know when i´m able to buy the film ? i really have to c it.
